Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease characterized by hair loss on the scalp, face, and/or body.
Approximately 2% of the global population suffer from AA over the course of their lifetime.
It can affect all ages and typically occurs by age 40 and affects both men and women of various racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Some patients with AA have reported the loss of defining facial features, including eyebrows and eyelashes, as very disturbing.
